Nonye Toria continues to command attention with her powerful presence and evolving sound. Following the release of her uplifting single Divine World in 2024 and her Rock Pop anthem Find Love in 2025, the artist now unveils her second studio album, Force & Fire, released in 2026. Known for her commanding vocals and emotionally rich songwriting, Nonye consistently delivers music that connects deeply with listeners while showcasing her artistic growth. Her venture into Rock Pop with Find Love further highlighted her versatility, blending rock-infused energy with modern pop sensibility and heartfelt expression.
Born Victoria-Joy Nonye Okocha in Lagos, Nigeria, Nonye is of royal lineage from Delta State. She relocated to England at the age of 13, where she was immersed in a diverse range of musical influences that would later shape her sound. Her education includes studies at Redmaids’ High School, Henley College, and Hull University, followed by Metropolitan University in Budapest, where she developed a strong appreciation for global cultures and musical styles, even learning some Hungarian.
Nonye’s musical journey began early in childhood. She learned the flute and performed in the Sarafina musical while attending Dominican Primary School. In 2006, she joined a Mo-Town band at Berkshire College, performing classics from artists such as The Temptations and Johnny Cash. Her performance career reached a major milestone in 2008 when she had the honour of performing for the late Queen Elizabeth II, and she later appeared on the iconic British television series EastEnders.
Her rise as a recording artist was sparked by her breakout single Bad Girl, which earned her widespread attention and positioned her as an emerging voice in Afrobeat. BBC Introducing notably compared Nonye’s vocal power to Rihanna. She went on to release several more singles, including the popular remix of Paper Loving, further establishing her presence in the industry. Each release has reflected her growth, versatility, and commitment to artistic excellence.
Beyond music, Nonye is actively involved in humanitarian work, collaborating with the Dayo Israel Foundation on UN-affiliated youth empowerment initiatives.
